The writers put Akshu in a situation like how Manjari thought about Neil. She knew Harshvardhan would blow up and be upset about Neil. It was dark mark on his reputation and Birla name. But later we saw how Harshvardhan accepted Neil. The difference between Manjari and Akshu is Akshu has created a positive environment for Abhir to grow up in. Manjari took Neil in then cruely gave him no rights and could barely defend him. He grew up feeling lost and just a burden to the family along with insecurity and confidence issues against his own brother which he admitted.

But at the end of the day both decisions were wrong. Manjari needed to tell the truth up front so Neil had the same place as Abhi. But deep down I still thinks she harbored hatred for Avni and choose not to reveal Neil's truth because she was afraid Harshvardhan would love Neil more than Abhi because Neil was a kid from Avni the one Harshvardhan strayed with and who knows may have loved. While we know Harshvardhan never loved nor appreciated Manjari. He accused her of using Abhi and straining the father son relationship. There is some truth of that even though he couldn't see how his own behavior of mistreating Manjari was the biggest impact of why Abhi hated his father.

Akshu needs to tell the truth about Abhir. Abhi lost 6 years of not being a father. His rights were given to a stranger who luckily is a good person and has done nothing but shower love on Abhir and has taken care of Akshu. Abhir's world is going to go upside down knowing Abhinav is not his real father. But knowing how people tend to be Abhir won't have any issues with it. To hime Abhinav is his father. Abhi will just be a buddy or friend which is fine as well. Like I said Abhir ends up the luckiest becauae he has 2 father figures in his life.

This is why the biggest way for Abhi to be redeemed is to not to go for custody battle and to stop his mother from meddling. If he understood the gravity of the situation of what he did then can he work to protect Akshu and her new family. Then Abhinav better show his "good human being" tag line to be true and allow Abhi into this unit. As he technically "stole" Abhir from him and Akshu. At least that should be the way Abhinav should think.
