It’s absolute hogwash. Stan abused out of nowhere - Stan charged with the intention to hit, out of nowhere. Shaleen held him to prevent getting harmed - but he wasn’t harming Stan. The defense is ludicrous. But it’s easy to do because a Shaleen’s a scapegoat, and they’ve set the tone on violence.
