It was a night like any other for Ms. Ayesha Sadiq. She had just finished her shift at the club and was waiting for Bano to join her before they headed home. Once outside in the cool night air, she released her hair from the tight hair clasp and let it hang free. Relishing the comfort that gave her, Ayesha sat on her bike and called Bano. The girl answered but seemed to be still caught up with work. It was just as Ayesha was finishing her call with Bano that she felt someone's eyes on her.
Looking around she saw him.
A man in leather jacket was looking at her. The disapproval in his eyes was far too clear to be mistaken.
So another one of those men, Ayesha thought to herself. Come to dance and party around with friends till dawn and yet will judge a woman for being there. Not that she had come there to party. She had neither the time nor the luxury to spend her night away in such an expensive pastime.
Ayesha decided to ignore the man and turned her attention to her phone screen. Bano's office was just a street away. The girl would give her a call as soon as she was done and Ayesha would zoom off in her bike to pick her sister up.
"This isn't really my vibe, Fahad." Ayesha heard a voice.
"Come on Basit. Soha has invited you here. She wants to introduce her friends to you. If you want to make her accept your proposal, this is the least you can do for her." Another voice urged the previous speaker.
Basit found his eyes returning to the girl leaning against the bike. There was something about the way she appeared so completely relaxed and composed in this same place that was stifling to him that filled him with annoyance.
"Well, she isn't here," he told Fahad. "You go ahead inside. I'll wait for Soha."
Fahad looked at his friend with concern. "You sure you won't leave?" Basit seemed a bit distracted.
Basit Salman gave Fahad a look at this. Who knew better than Fahad just how desperate Basit's situation was at present. Caught between rock and a hard place, determined bachelor Basit Salman was now standing in front of a club hoping to get the seal on his marriage document.
Fahad left Basit at that. An irritated Basit was not easy to deal with and right now with his hackles raised, his friend was better left alone.
