Sorry to go off-topic, and if I am making you uncomfortable. Your username is RAGHVIFAM, which celebrates the family of Raghav and Pallavi on Mehandī Hai Racanevālī. What is your opinion of Pallavi making it her priority to be loyal to Raghav, her husband, every time he lashed out at her while drunk?

Making mockery of military families' lives is an unforgivable mistake, and the SC has every right to probe and penalise the producer for her immoral, unethical portrayals of Defense personnel.

Back to the topic ...

What law gives the Supreme Court "every right" to probe and penalize someone for fictional immorality, or for mockery of the military?

If such a law exists, is it constitutional in light of individual freedom of speech and expression recognized in Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution?

And its OK to bear mental, emotional and physical abuse that what they want to teach younger generations

i know right. Is he some kind of god or something for whom 2 fls are fighting with each other 😳 like he is a male lead for god sake. And in all itv shows ml has almost all the girls drooling over him irrespective of what is his age or looks. But fl hardly get any guy who even look at her with bad intentions.

On top of that the male lead starts flirting with other fls to make fl jealous. 🤢 if i would have been in fls place i would have throwed divorce paper on his face.

First of all, all tv shows should start showing

Men women are equal and should start showing the modern families.

They still follow the concept of beti paraya dhan as if girls are some commodity. In modern families girls also take care of her own family even stay with them whenever its needed. But i hear only dialogues where parents deny to stay with their daughter just because they gave birth to a daughter. 🤢 dont they also deserve some support during their old age for giving birth to a daughter?

Irrespective of how mls sas behave girl adjusts everything in those shows where as her parents treated like some trash in some shows. Like why which modern sane girl will tolerate insults of her parents and her maika. Does she has any selfresepct or not.

All the itv shows are currently has two things.

1. Irrespective of ml being dumbest of all he has 100s of girl fans who is not even care if he is married or not. Their ultimate goal is to get him at any cost. Murder planning plotting does not matter.

2. Fl irrespective of how much she sacrifices for her family the respect she get is 0. She still tolerates flirty or absive husband and still feels so proud about it. 🤔 her only motive of staying alive is by sacrificing everything. If she was working women before marriage she leaves her job and becomes agyakari sanskari bahu who does not even think of advancing in her career.

Even if girls reach a new galaxy all together this itv will still show a girl hanging laptop after washing it with a water.

I would be very happy on the day when the shows start focusing on equality than patriarchal society. Gone those days when girls were dependent on mls completely. They can be independent too.

I know many people who are divorced due to some complications in their marriage but still they are happily taking care of themselves or their family and parents. Even if currently itv picks up this divorce concept they will get another male and show that female is incomplete without male rather than showing people can be self sufficient they do not need others.

I saw some promo i dont remember the show name a girl gets pregnant before marriage and a male comes and offers to marry her. Not sure whats the story but why cant they show girl can give birth without marriage and fight for her kid if they truly want to bring a change in the society. Is ml and fl romance is all that works in itv. Can itv start showing something different than fl and ml romance and try to pick up topics to create awareness that everyone will not get alpha male like how its currently potrayed on tv shows.

I hope this isn't too far from the topic of "polluting minds" ...

I was reminded of TV dramas' devotion to traditional institutions when Sundarā Manāmadhe Bharalī, a Marathi daily drama, had the new character Devavrat saying that "Vidya is the woman with whom I live," and the heroine Latika relayed this information to her sister as "he has a wife, and he doesn't even speak respectfully of her."

In the real world, a man can be roommates with a woman, or her paying guest, or her live-in boyfriend. Would the heroine be no longer a heroine if she acknowledged these possibilities?

Indian TV in all languages needs to outgrow the paradigm of escapism into a fictional world in which everyone is heterosexual and cis-gendered and wants to be married. Genuinely family-friendly content would embrace diversity.

well, according to Art 19(2) SC and govt has a right to restrict one’s fundamental rights of freedom of expression and speech on the basis of morality and decency, it is given in Indian constitution.

@bold SC has this right also, but as far as I know someone else filed a case on EK and SC just heard his petition and this comes under the jurisdiction of SC. SC is the guarantor of our FR’s and if one’s rights are breaching other person’s rights then it is the duty of SC to limit his/her right.

Article 19(2) allows the State to enact and enforce laws that "impose reasonable restrictions" on freedom of speech and expression in the pursuit of State interests including "decency or morality."

The Supreme Court's authority is to determine the constitutionality of laws and either uphold or overturn the verdict of a lower court. It isn't the Supreme Court's job to decide that someone's artistic expression in bad taste is "an unforgivable mistake" when it isn't a crime. The trial court may direct law enforcement to "probe and penalize" someone who appears to have broken the law, but no court should use law enforcement to intimidate someone just because "something has to be done" about her artistic expression polluting young minds.

Is there a law that fiction may not depict adultery by a military spouse, or may not depict damage to a military uniform? Are "noble occupations" covered by the silly laws that prohibit offense to the sentiments of communities?

If there isn't a relevant law, and the State enacted such a law, would it meet the standard of rational basis review, meaning that it clearly and exactly serves the State's interest in decency or morality, or would it be an unreasonable restriction of artistic freedom?

If supreme court is really concerned about quality of mass entertainment, they should look at the ITV content aired in STAR PLUS, Colors, Zee during primetime.

It is filled with Bigamy, Adultery, domestic abuse and violence, illtreatment and insult of women.

This is plain hypocrisy. No one is forcing youth to subscribe and watch A content shows in Netflix, HBO, VOOT or ALT BAlaji. Her shows in ALTBalaji are not free to watch. Someone needs to pay money and subscribe to watch it.

It is a straightforward answer to which many of us can agree logically.

But, the point isn't whether to watch or not; it's how acceptable and comfortable it is to watch.

The notion that you have to pay to see it, and that paying to watch it means you approve of it, is also not correct, because there is an unpleasant and regressive visual component, and we are debating how far such serials are legally viable/acceptable for public viewing.

In almost every Indian household, 7 PM-10 PM was the time when Indian TV soaps were watched religiously, one after another. By now, most of us realise how messed up the narratives are, but many still continue watching these regressive shows.

In a bold, expressive poem, Diksha Bijlani has spoken up about everything that is wrong with the Indian TV scenario today, and it couldn’t be more apt.⭐️

She’s talked about how these shows are regressive and misogynistic to say the least.

They have a very flawed portrayal of women and society has somehow imbibed that mindset as its image of an ideal bahu!

Indian TV is filled with women with no spine, leading selfless lives, always catering to their husband or in-law's needs.

TV serials have a wide audience and thus they can use that as a source for change, and we are hopeful that it happens sooner rather than later.

This visual sums up everything that we have ever wanted to say to these obsolete-minded TV producers.

It is possible that I might subscribe Altbalaji to watch a different show and I am totally unaware or not interested to watch this specific one. Or I don't even know about this show being discussed. It doesn't matter. Supreme Court has no right to moral police.

What I find hypocritical of Supreme Court is to target their comment just to Ekta Kapoor's specific show. There are probably 100s of shows and movies that show not just Armymen bad, but also shown Judges, cops or politicians selling national secrets, gang rapes, getting bribed and so on. Why is that acceptable and a consensual sex or bdsm not acceptable? P0rn is available easily to youth today esp with Cheap Jio plans and who knows all the genres even available, can even one of the judges dare to tell youth to stop watching P0rn or tell Govr to make it inaccessible.

They can claim that since the case is specifically about the show, hence their comment is specific to it, but Supreme Court sets precedence to all future such cases.

This case should have be dismissed outright.
