hey have you watched akshay kumar's recent movie rakshabandhan? i watched the last 30 minutes today and it made me so emotional. i literally crying buckets, maybe because I'm PMSing or it was actually that good. Either way, i think the movie sends a good social message about empowering girls instead of focusing on getting them married off as quickly as possible

Wow, really? I havent watched it but had reviews about it which were mixed but yeah people had said it was an emotional movie, so dont blame on your pms :D

bold - that's a good message indeed, but actually a contradictory to what I just pm'ed you about lol. the thing as much as we are enforcing girls to become more capable, we need to make boys be ambitious too. aajkal boys are so lazy, no ambitions, they just want to go on hikes, booze and party

thank you for acknowledging my feelings ❤️ i read the mix reviews too but today i realized most of the negative comments were on the first half where AK's character was extremely sexist and was hell bent on getting his sisters married with dowry. [spoiler alert] but something drastic happens in the second half which changed him and made him understand the value of his sisters as human beings not just some parayi dhan who has to be married off. so he decided to spend all the money he saved for their dowry on getting them educated. at the end the girls chose partners of their own choice from their own fields

@pm: lol true, we really did a complete 180 with this discussion here compared to the PMs 😆

@today's boys: really? i had quite opposite experience. most if not all of my male friends are quite ambitious and competitive. sometimes they motivate me to work ever harder to achieve my goals. but again, none of my male friends are south asian so maybe south asian boys are the ones who lack ambitions because south asian mothers often spoil their sons 😲

@movie - hmm I see. Yeah, it must be due to regressive dialogues if they are in part1. And i like the message in part-2. Wish it was that easy in real life to find someone from our own field who would also match our family's choice :(

hehe we did 180 with this movie's theme indeed 😆

@today's boys - yes, precisely Desi or south asian boys. it's not all of them are like that but at least those who opt for arranged marriage are like that. the ones who are academically brilliant, who are active in cocurricular probably get taken by firangi girls already 😆

@bold: ugh one of the downsides of living abroad, we have to compete with firangis too 😆
