Bollywood doesn't have the skillet for it, is one thing. But in general it would fit. I have seen situations like that in Delhi and Mumbai, where a maid would get in her husband as a driver, then her daughter as cook and so on. And the similar sort of class divide. It's a very Asian set up. I think the very concept of that sort of class divide is foreign to most westerners.
Caste is another thing that a lot of south East Asian countries have much simpler variants of. At core these countries are very similar to us.
I am not saying that class divide doesnt exist in India, it exists in deeper ways in places like gurgaon, noida etc and also in villages,
I am saying is the style of filmaking and the way it will play out in an asian city and the way they depict it is closer to western sensibility so more relatable
but if you translate it similarly to bombay it will not reflect the indian reality and become gehraiyaan like,
in fact I would say the closest is sir in hindi which actually is made in a western manner but shows indian class conflict, somehow it does not have the nativity or rawness of a titli, sairat or asuran
almost like satyajit ray movies full of bhadralok who could have been sitting in london or paris
if you want realistic depiction of the same story it will be more rooted and become say a titli, geeli pucchi type which will not be close to them as much as the asian depiction
I do agree that parasite was right place right time when they were questioning capitalism, the rising inequality and it hit them hard
it is also true for RRR, they are fed up of the marvel movies which are souless and this superhero anime combo with no woke emotions is novel for them
so bottomline some filmmakers and movies hit the chord, it doesnt mean the movie is the greatest or they accept all great movies from that region
