For them they were the leads and some power couple... It's not a love story, it's compromise at its best...there was a rush when they both involved their families very early...I also feel their story is similar to Ghum where Neil got interested in Ayesha after Aish, seeing her rising popularity etc but it's not serial story afterall...Ayesha must not have been interested and had to focus on her career more at that point, the reason why Mrs Bhatt is so insecure of her and not of any other co-actor of Mr Bhatt.

Aishwarya has a big mask 🎭 of fun loving and humourous girl kyunki agar woh hota toh innocence bhi hoti jo certainly usme bilkul bhi nahi hai.

Ayesha to me looks a mature+cheerful girl but I don't think uske upar koi mask hai.
