I am watching Gahire Paani.

Most of my suggestions would be Hindi shows because most of the Marathi TV shows I watched are not available anywhere including Youtube. For instance shows like,

Chaal Navachi Vachal Vasti, Ase Pahune Yeti, 100, Shodh, Chiranjeev, Pratibimb, Pailtir, Adhantar, Mahashweta, and quite a few others are not available. Even quite a few Hindi shows are not available anywhere, Kuch Khoya Kuch Paya and Shanti:EK Ghar Ki Kahani being among them, indicates the state of our archiving process.

Here are my recommendations, top of my head. Will post more in another post.

Tamas - based on partition - last I checked it was available on YouTube. I watched it a long time back.

Trishna - Hindi version of Pride and Prejudice, available on Youtube.

Kashish - Love story, available on Youtube.

Shwetambara Marathi - Horror-Thriller, available on youtube

Flop Show - Hard hitting Satire by Jaspal Bhatti.

Rajni - Priya Tendulkar takes up social issues. - Available on YT

Circus - when SRK was on TV. - Available on YT

Mahanagar - Anthology - Available on YT

Phatichar - Versatile Pankaj Kapoor. - Available on YT

Yatra - Travel Anthology -Available on YT

Amravati Ki Kathayen - Anthology love stories - Available on YT

Chekhov Ki Duniya - Chekhov's stories. - Available on YT

Upanyas - Shekhar Kapoor, Deepa Lagu, Shreeram Lagu.

Neev - Coming of age from early DD times - Available on YT

Hello sir, thankyou for a great list of recommendations, I wish the shows that you said are not available had been archived and stored by Doordarshan😒, because if I am not wrong Doordarshan was the only channel available during 80's and 90's😊. I can watch many old English shows that go as back as 1950's on Youtube from US and UK👍🏼, it would be nice to watch some more DD shows from 1980's and 90's👍🏼.

I wonder how come Shanti serial which was India's first soap opera has not been archived as yet .... Truly beats me !

Same goes for kille ka Raahasya... DD s first mystery serial with a haunting background score . Yet not uploaded on any SM platform....

They took ages for uploading A mouthful of sky .

Shanti was a classic ..The storyline and the story telling was way ahead of its time....imagine any of todays serial having the guts to show the main female to be child of a rape victim out to take revenge .....

If talking hindi serials there were some other good ones

Kashish - Sudesh berry and malvika - romantic serial

Farman - kanwaljeet - romantic serial against the backdrop of hyderbad nawabs i think...

Udaan - one of the best shows that highlighted women empowerment
