Does anybody watch films instead of K-Dramas 😆

Here is a list of films releasing/released this year:

And here's what I think is a fairly strong list of popular films:

I have watched a few Korean movies and loved most of them. --

My sassy girl (Gosh I so so loved this film! Jun Ji Hyun is a riot, I love love love her !)

A Moment to Remember (this is one of the saddest films I have ever watched...so so heartwrenching but also beautiful! I loved it even though I bawled my eyes out)

Parasite (I liked the film but IDK , don't feel it was Oscar worthy somehow)

Oldboy (good film, the ending left me speechless)

Midnight Runners (funny , breezy buddy film , loved it! )

An Ode to my Father (beautiful beautiful film, I cried so much in the end!)

The Witch (watched it a few months ago, and loved it! I recommend everyone to watch this film!)

Train to Busan (amazing film! Never liked zombie movies before, but this film had heart)

What kind of films do you like generally? The more popular korean films tend to be on the darker end

I personally preferred Marriage story that year, but it's easy to see why Parasite is a strong winner on both technical and storytelling aspects. That said, that win was more of a culminating event for the way Korean entertainment industry had been exploding for a few years globally before that.

Parasite being a more appealing film to Western sensibilities pacing wise and Bong's generally long well regarded career all help. I think Burning and Shoplifters (though Japanese) the preceding two years also set a lot of stage for Parasite's win.

Ok, I get it.

The film was unusual, and hard hitting too. A unique type of film.

Haven't seen the other films you mentioned.. are those really good? Will give them a watch then.. 😊

They are both pretty good. Though a bit on the slow burn side. Burning is Korean, Shoplifters is Japanese.

Why outlaws2 (the roundup) is big hit in korean markets ?? I had watched outlaws 1 (2017) and its commercial film, there is nthing gr8 in movie but still its one of highest grosser.

Action part is good but story is not that upto the mark..... I think evn outlaws2 also have gr8 action but not story.
