Completely agree with you. If Abhi talks softly with Akshu - is she a little child? If he is intense, he becomes toxic. If Akshu chooses to defend Abhi - did she forget her sister of so many years? How can she not invite her to the wedding? If Akshu chooses Aarohi - doesn't she love Abhi anymore? She is such a doormat.
It is also one of the first shows I've been an active part of where the FL is berated for being a doormat and the antagonist is hailed for being "ambitious". As though being ambitious is the only thing which means a woman is progressive, or being "ambitious" means that you can be medically negligent, cause hit and runs, reveal confidential patient information, and be high on illegal medical prescriptions. Bleh.
The show needs parallel characters to survive - I would rather have characters like Mahima-Manjari and Harsh, who know how to act rather than other characters who have no proper backstory for being who they are and do not have any idea how to emote.
The execution of the tracks is the problem, and not the tracks themselves. The adoption track was such a HUGE development - but there was absolutely no indication of any emotional changes it might have brought. How does Neil feel about being Manjari's stepson? How does Abhi feel about his adopted brother being his half-brother - of being a sign of his father's indiscretion? How does Harsh feel about Smurf being his son - forget repentance, he hasn't even reflected on it yet. The actual depth in these tracks is missing.

I have to ask even though I don't want to compare but for those who saw Season 1 wouldn't these things be shown as part of the aftermath of the track? It doesn't mean they have to dedicate entire episodes to this aftermath but a few scenes here and there for development of the characters. Just because you show it doesn't mean the character is locked in for a specific reaction to the next track circumstances. This is how you add some substance while also putting in filler type episodes because there will always be filler so there is a balance of drama and pacing.
