I think in that both sequence they potrayated emotions of childhood of Abhi. And today also it was the child in him was there. So the mother came and consoled him. In dooba dooba sequence instead of his mom AK came to console him because manju was away in kuldevi mandir. So what if a wife/gf can act of do the duty of a mother then why can't the mother herself do that. They both were consoling the little Abhi inside him. I really don't feel anything wrong in there.

Ya may be because cvs have spoiled us with these parallels so we're are not able to accept others.
