Yeah theoretically we logical people do not accept that as marriage. But in ITV world Sindor can be marriage. And the creatives had the scientist apply Sindor on GG first and then on Jhoomar, exactly for that reason... Then we had that debate on importance of Sindor during AnuKriti marriage.

The creatives further reminded us of this by giving only GG the apshagun signal of Anu being in danger.

Anyways the cynic in me makes me think that hurried Sindor application on GG was meant for the purpose of soothing the sensibilities of TRP audience who could excuse the EMA that was being shown as *But Anu applied Sindor on GG!! * (especially coz EMA wouldn't be acceptable from lead couple)

Had this been a foreign show Anu would have consummated with GG without the Sindor and the plot would have been lovers seperated by family coming together despite the guy being married coz they couldn't stay away from each other... The triumph of Love over forced restrictions put forth by society and family!.
