She immediately hit his hand away.
"Don't you dare play soft on me... I know you quite well... Now get out, I have work..."
"Anu... I..."
"She said 'get out', Mr. Shah. I hope your ears are working fine."
Anu gave a sigh of relief as she saw Anuj march inside the room and stand by her side. All the 'Anu', 'Anu' crooning was really getting on her nerves.
"Ah... here comes the knight in shining armor..."
"You are still here..."
Vanraj gave a sly smile and moved towards the door when he heard Anuj's voice.
"And it's Anupama for you... Don't you dare call her Anu again..."
His smile widened as he exited the room. He had achieved what he had wanted. He had finally gotten under their skin. Now they won't dare to ignore him as they had been doing for the past week. His goal was clear and now the path had started clearing up. As he walked towards Mukku's cabin, he took out his phone and scrolled through the messages stopping at the one he wanted. Opening it, he clicked on the number and dialed it.
"Hello... My name is Vanraj Shah and I want to give you the news you have always wanted to hear."

Left alone in the room, Anuj turned to Anu.
"Are you ok?"
She nodded.
"That man is still as cunning as before... We need to protect Mukku..."
"We will... but... what about you? I can see you are not comfortable with him being here..."
"I am not... but if we push him out, we need to push out Mukku too... I'd rather have Mukku here and tolerate that man than not have her around me at all. She is such a joy to me... don't worry about me... I can manage..."
"Mmmm... I don't like him barging into rooms where you are alone... let's talk to Mukku... okay before anything else..."
He walked to the door and locked it. The blinds were already down giving them the much needed privacy.
"What are you...?"
"We need to talk."
She gave a huff and turned away from him.
"What is there to talk...?"
He walked towards her, grabbed her by the elbow and made her sit on a chair. He knelt in front of her and took her hand in his.
"Everything..."
"I don't want to talk to you..."
He tipped her chin and pouted a little knowing quite well she can't ignore his puppy face.
"Sorry... sorry...?"
She said nothing as tears started to well up in her eyes again. He quickly brushed of her tears with his thumb.
"Don't... You know I can't bear it..."
"Then why are you making me cry..."
"I thought you felt uncomfortable... Remember I promised long back that I won't make you feel uncomfortable..."
"Uncomfortable?"
She looked at him confused.
"That night, you said you wanted to sleep when... when..."
She clicked her tongue in frustration. So he had misunderstood her shyness for disinterest.
"Bholuram..."
She removed her hand from his and got up to leave when he clutched her pallu and said in a low voice.
"I can't bear this anymore..."
He slowly got up with the help of her pallu and stood behind her. His lips close to her ears he said huskily
"I can't bear not knowing anymore..."
She felt redness creeping through her back as the pits of her stomach felt warm all of a sudden.
"Mohatarma... am I making you uncomfortable?"
She felt her head nodding in negative and her body arch back closer to him. His heart leapt at her unspoken consent.
"Are you sure?"
She shut her eyes and nodded again. He blew softly at the tendrils of hair that caressed her ear.
"Why?"
With his scent overpowering her senses and his soft breaths pleasuring her, she whispered
"Because... it's you..."
"Mmmmm...."
"Mmmmm...."
He moved away from her and the lack of proximity brought her back to earth and she opened her eyes to meet his. The desire in his hooded eyes made her feel weak in her knees. He gave her a soft smile
"Some other time.... some other place... when you are fully ready... I promise..."
