No. It should not be his decision. No one is bigger than the game. If he is not performing for more than 6 months or year he should be dropped. Go and grind in domestic or county if he wants to get his place back. Others don't get this liberty. For ex search about Rayudu and shreyas performance before world cup. Any other team will kill for such performance. And why did we lose? Lack of middle order. We took shankar who had to be injured by bumrah so we can get a replacement. Look at pujara. He was dropped after failing in eng and sa and he is playing County and can't stop scoring centuries. Kohli hasn't scored properly since since covid hit. I can list out dozens of players who were dropped for much less. The team has reached such point that they perform better without kohli. Post covid no player has performed worse than kohli, but nothing touches him and he is living because of his pre covid performance. Also for kohli ego is everything. Maybe getting dropped will hurt it and he might do something to prove others wrong. At this moment he is in a place where he harms the team more than he helps. Same condition with rcb.
