From the likes i would know what kind of romance they are interested on. The agressive & passionate ones with all the manhandling and disrespecting or the subtle & realistic romance in which a man takes consent of the women as mark of his respect to the women. Another point to note is the age at which they got married and also what the life has taught them. He as a young man had to take the responsibility of his step family where in there were two women of which one he literally brought her up. Here even though he never got any advice from a mother, him being like a father to Shivi has an expectation from the men who approach her. And I guess this has set a lesson for him as well.

Thats why they say that the best gift that parents can give their kids is to show how they respect each other. It is from the way parents behave with each other kids learn on how they need to interact with others. Most of the time when mother's are not respected by their father ,

1) Boy child will think its his right as a man to behave that way to his wife as his mother silently accepted this treatment.

2) Girl child will see it as a way of life because her father behaved bad and mother silently accepted it.
