Some of the restrictions on Newbies are in place to protect the site and its users from Spammers who simply join the site to post spam / harmful links and run away.

Similarly for images we didn't want them to post any objectionable images. Large tech sites do have the tech to auto-detect such things.

For the above reason we have to keep Newbies in some form of a sandbox.

Everyone who is on the site today have been a Newbie to start with except me.

We are working on improving our spam-detect algorithm which will make it much easier for genuine members.
