In my opinion, Aryan and Imlie are both wrong.
At the beginning of the episode, Aryan said Imlie's pechaan (her identity) is being Mrs. Imlie Aryan Singh Rathore which I completely disagree with and find uncharacteristic of Aryan. In the dream sequence, you imagined two versions of Imlie - one as the Tripathi's Bahu/Aditya's wife where she's pleading for her family's happiness and the other being Imlie from Pagdandiya, a reputed journalist who credits her mother for her success. Where did Imlie Aryan Singh Rathore come from? Also, saying this new glamorous and expensive look of hers is why she's equal to him now? Is that your new vision of a successful Imlie? Because, if it is, screw you Aryan. Imlie doesn't need to be you wife to be your equal nor does she have to be decked up. You and I both know she rivalled you at every step, irrespective of her societal stature and clothes. Both of those statements made me cringe and feel insulted for Imlie. I get why she chose that look for herself cause you practically baited her, and made it seem like she was defeated against your elitist vision.
Remember what your conscience said on your wedding day, it isn't love if it means changing someone into a version of them they're not authentic in.
Aryan, the Tripathi's are being very nice to you considering you assaulted their son and never explained why. If I was you, I wouldn't push that generosity, especially without an explanation. Pointing out Aditya's absence in front of the Tripathi's wasn't necessary in my opinion.
Imlie, you're not a servant. You were never a servant, that was a lie told by someone else because he was ashamed of you and your relationship. You are Imlie from Pagdandiya and in the past, you've never shied away from correcting people so why now? Why are you embracing a fake title? You're right, being household help is nothing to be humiliated for but an individual's identity is far more than their job. You are far more than that, so is Sundar and so is every other household help worker. You wanted to show up to the party as yourself, right? Then wear those clothes that you adore and that you've earned because that is characteristic of Imlie. I have no qualms with your party attire. But bringing the broom with you wasn't necessary. You could've brought the cleaning supplies when someone spilled their drink or broke their glass and showed that side of you then. It didn't need to be part of your entrance. Another alternative: you could've worn a dress similar to that of the new year's party. I don't know if it was a gift or you bought it yourself but you looked great and you looked like yourself (it didn't seem like the dress code of the party forced you to be someone else).
Aparna was right in rebuking you. At this moment, she might be on your side more than you are.
Narmada and Arpita embrace every side of yours and I'll never stop loving them for this. But I wish you'd recognize it a little more too. You were so focused on challenging Aryan that you didn't see their distraught faces. You remembered that this affected them too when you heard Narmada's voice falter and croak.
On a separate note, I'm glad the Tripathis were teary-eyed at Imlie's proclamation of being a maid cause I'm interpreting their reaction as guilt for treating her like that (treating her as an inferior and unworthy of their son because she worked as your maid when the Adilie marriage came out) and for instilling those ideas into her. They are partly responsible for her behaviour tonight and I'm glad the director included their expressions throughout the episode.
Also, Aryan picking up the glass with Imlie reminded me of Malini in the initial episodes. For example, when Anu Chaturvedi kept Imlie with her for a few days, she instructed Imlie to eat on the kitchen floor with the other help, Malini joined Imlie because she treated Imlie as her equal (back when Malini was one of my favs).
Also what is up with the makers these days? Aryan's supposed to be Mr. Fast Forward, not the entire show. They made a jumpcut from wedding function to function and in the reception there was no dance :C
