Warning - Its going to be a long post.
Its a bit of rant and realisation.
Its purely from my perspective, you can agree or disagree with me, its your choice. But this has been bothering me for a few days now and today, it reached a point of realization for me. Hence this post.
It was like a jolt that I realised what Vanku has done to me as a viewer (and I consider myself a sensible viewer 😃)
Going forward the terminology I will be using is WE - that is the Viewers of the show and THEY- Vankar and the Channel as they are the main captains of this Ghum Ship.
On other shows, when Holi is shown, viewers are looking forward to light hearted moments, romance between leads and sideys basically enjoying and having a good, fun time. But in Ghum World what do we get?
Ghum has always thrived on negativity. Cringe and Toxicity has always been the part and parcel of this show. This is the truth and as viewers, we have all accepted it to an extent cause we dont have another option. After more than 450 plus episodes, I now see a pattern on how They have been dishing out this crap to us.
I want to rate intensity of Toxicity and Cringe with this scale :
Bad
Bad Max
Max Pro
Ultra Pro Max
About 200 or odd episodes before , Paki standing outside Sairat's door or even she waltzing into their room was considered ewwww! and Utra Pro Max level.🤢 I was not that active in the forum back then but when I go back to those pages, I can see how we were ranting here and Vanku ko gaali bhi de rahe the ki ye kitna ganda dikha raha hain.
But look at us now- we are discussing on whether Paki will actually sleep with Virat in his bed in his room. !!🤔 When they show Paki standing outside the room now, we are thinking- thank god she is outside the room, its bad behaviour but at least she is not inside and touching him, because that is the new standard of Ultra Pro Max now. Do you see the progression? They have successfully normalised Ultra Pro Max behaviour and down graded it to just a Bad behaviour.
Same with the family's abuse to Sai . In the earlier episodes, even BK calling her Jungli Mulgi was unacceptable behaviour for us. How much everyone ranted on that!
Look at us now, the family is wishing death on Sai - that is Ultra Pro Max but if they just resort to calling her names again - we will be thinking - Thank God at least now they have changed , they are not wishing her death, they are only calling her names. Do you see the progression here too?
They have been normalizing cringe and abuse slowly slowly by increasing the dosage episode by episode , track by track to such an extent that we, as viewers have started being immune to many of the stuff they are showing now. And when I think of how many millions of screens across the country are showing this content on Prime Time slot and all those unsuspecting viewers who are falling into the trap, my blood boils.😡
This is SLOW POISONING ! 😡And the WE includes ME too.
I am so shocked that Vanku brilliantly played with my mind and I did not even see this coming!😕
To draw a parallel, this is exactly what happens in long term abusive relationships. The abuser, through slow progression increases the dosage of abuse slowly and after a while the abused feels that the initial lower grade abuse was actually normal behaviour because now he/she is dealing with more severe abuse. Vanku's formula is the same. But the issue here is - in a relationship its one-on-one but here, its playing with millions of minds among whom many are not that articulate and are easily gullible. They are playing with those viewers. Its like a Cult Leader manipulating the minds of his followers. 🤔
Vanku is a gone case, so no point ranting about him. But isnt Star a responsible Channel? Are they blind to see whats going on in the name of content? They should stop using Nayi Soch for their tag line because it is a grave insult to the word Soch.
Vanku himself was shocked when someone told him the show is Toxic. I think that sums up everything🤔
I have just scribbled down what came to my mind and tagging a few people I met here who seem to be on the same page as me on many issues discussed here.
