Well, in a sense Imlie and Adi did cheat on Malini. Adi and Imlie were forcefully married by the people of her village because they both spent a night together to escape a storm (they did nothing, just took shelter!!), because.... village. Adi was engaged at that time to be married to Malini, but was forcefully married to Imlie and neither were really interested in marrying each other. So Adi was basically in denial of the marriage to Imlie and Imlie was a victim of her upbringing and held on to beliefs that there can only be one spouse per birth. Adi also could not exactly go complain to the police about the forced marriage or anything since that would effectively ruin Imlie's reputation in the village, and lead to arrest of Satyakam who was a fugitive according to Delhi Police. So various circumstances like that led Imlie to live as a domestic help in AKT's house. And AKT went ahead and married Malini. He attempted to tell her that he was already married to Imlie, but she fainted and since he was in denial of his marriage to Imlie anyway, he went ahead and married her, while Imlie continued living in his house as a maid. Eventually, things happened in such a way that he realized he loved Imlie and wasn't really compatible with Malini, and Imlie kept saying things like I am sufficient to fulfill this relationship by myself etc., and eventually caused Adi and Malini to separate after he revealed the truth to her.
No, Adi and Imlie did not consummate their marriage, because as soon as they got the opportunity, Imlie wasn't ready and Adi was not going to force her unless she was willing, and then amidst all this, Imlie also left him. So Adi actually has been celibate since quite sometime, except the one Janmashtami night, where he was drugged and tricked into sleeping with Malini, by Malini. In fact, as soon as Adi reveals the truth about Imlie and his relationship, Malini asks the same quesrtion for which Adi replies that even the thought hasn't crossed his mind. This is one of the very poignantly shot scenes and Gashmeer and Mayuri would have done it really well, with a lot of class.
As for comments about Adi forcefully kissing Imlie and him being tharki for her etc., it is not true. There was nothing in the plot to suggest anything like that. Their first kiss was after Malini and Adi had separated, and Imlie cried from being overwhelmed with emotions. Nothing else. In fact, it is a very beautifully and aesthetically shot sequence.
As for letting Imlie into his bedroom, it was even before he realized he loved her. This was on her birthday, and was a form of an apology after he sees Malini's mom misbehaving with her and he sees the reflection of his own behavior of mistreating Imlie for no fault of hers, and is just trying to set things right. He had earlier prohibited her from entering his room, but seeing that it was not the right thing to do, he just remedied it. No other intention.
Yes, eventually the writers messed up Adi's character arc to accommodate plot movement and other subsequent developments, but the only 2 things that were non-consensual were the marriage, and Adi's assault by Malini. Nothing else. In fact, AKT and Imlie were the most platonic couple you could have ever seen! Aryan and Imlie, as boss and employee had more physically intimate moments than Adi and Imlie had, as lovers!!!!
