I'm just coming off the thread where M ...performed the best dhobi pachad of this generation. (someone give her an award because God she must be the most patient person this side of earth.)
It stuns me that people choose to be so obtuse about fictional characters. I understand the craze that comes with fandom, but I've realised that the people I have interacted with in the last month that are Arylie shippers have taken the time to reflect on the issues within each character. We're not afraid to call out Aryan if we think he's pushed the boundary but the opposition, as you say, choose stubbornly to stick to the a very weak argument to defend their spineless, worthless hero.
(No shade to GM who is a fantastic actor)
Like you said though, why waste time knowing that there is no hope of a real conversation.
Like you said, reflecting on characters is really really really important. We tend to overlook questionable behaviour in two scenarios. When we admire people or when we're so blind that we cannot see the moral compromising that we're doing.
I'm glad the people I've interacted here are not blind worshippers. Yes we're a pyaasi lot, we're a little more open than the previous.
But we can call out Aryan too
We're just these new gen fans that know where to draw the line.
