Yes, Kayasthas are everywhere. While there are three major groups, the origin is said to be from UP and Bihar, and they are also known as Chitraguptavanshi, owing to their forefather, according to ancient texts.

All my Kayastha friends are brilliant, I am almost jealous 😆 We have quite a few in Bollywood too.

State Board syllabus is usually very simple...thats why scoring is very high.

@bold: That just makes all the degrees go to waste.

I have my cousins married into Kayasthas. They are educated but many are very patriarchal too. I know them closely as my sister is married to one.

They are not just book smart. They are very sweet- well spoken as well.. and know how to keep appearances. Just like Big B.

I haven't met a patriarchal Kayastha yet. My relatives are married to Kayasthas too.

On the contrary, I never found them to be the type who keep up appearances. I guess that depends on the families. There are one type like Big B and Shatrughan Sinha...and then the other like Mukesh ji, Chitragupta, Anand-Milind. Maybe that's a music thing then 😆

I think it depends on where the live/come from currently.

I have kayasth colleagues at workplace too, and the women constantly complain about situation with in laws. One of them is is miserable, she is only in the marriage cuz of the child.

The ones raised in UP/ Bihar can be very much. One of my cousins IIT-IIM educated husband would even beat her up (which is something unheard of in the community as they only need words generally because they can talk so well 😂). The family is very elite otherwise but don’t even let her work. Plus, they will constantly criticise the language how she speaks (she is very polite and docile but we’re Punjabis and our Hindi isn’t polished like theirs).

My sister’s in laws and family are all right though.

I’m at a point now that I straight up reject kayasth rishta cuz they scare me now 😭

Yup, I guess it matters where you live. I am from Mumbai so things are very cosmo and different here...some fools are everywhere but there are people from all over the country in this city. Lots of interstate marriages too.

Beating and all is truly unheard of. I hope your cousin is doing well now.

So are you a Punjabi from Punjab? Usually each state has its own accents, its nothing to make fun of. Mumbai kids usually don't because of the cosmo society.

They are truly awesome people, I am sorry you had such an experience!

Personally, if I were ever to get married, I'd chose either a Kayastha or a Parsi...that is if I get married to an Indian😆

That is the trap BI. You just see, when you speak of BJP, the discussions will circle around how people are kind of ‘forced’ to choose em, how badly secularism is abused here etc. etc. and the discussion will lead to nowhere.

I want to discuss unemployment, inflation, zero transparency to PM care funds and developments of schools, research centre, stadiums, libraries and laboratories. I will come back when discussions are around these and when we are making comparisons of Congress and BJP on these.

Even opening my mouth on refuting or discussing anything on BJP’s bogus claims is a step to their trap of never tabling the real issues that we have.

Pehle mandir-masjid nipta lein....there is a lot of time later to discuss all these unimportant issue...👍🏼

They don't want to call out *other religions* because ahem, ahem, but virtuously claim it's only truth that those religions did lots of nasty stuff to India. Not the *countries* mind you, but the religions did the bad stuff. Not simply Mughals or the Brits. Islam and Christianity, clearly.😆Yet they choose to go to the same countries and live among majorities of the same religions who they claim are extremists.

What hypocrisy!

I agree with you on most of what you have said in this thread but I disagree with this comment. There is a big difference in how the religion of the majority is treated in India vs how it is treated in other countries. I grew up in Canada and the UK in the 90s. Christianity is the mainstay religion and it was ubiquitous part of the culture. Prayers in school, nativity pageants etc that most of us participated in. Even the UK parliament has bishops initiating the procedures etc. There are many things that are changing now in order to be more inclusive. Alabama dropped its ban on teaching yoga in schools but even now there is a caveat that you can't use the words namaste or chant etc in order to not offend the majority religion. However India also had a ban on yoga in schools but it was in order to not offend the minority religions. So I feel like its not comparable because the starting points are very different. Most people that move out of India make an effort to integrate into the local culture. But why does that mean you can't call out the inequality of the way India was partitioned and designed?
