Loyal audience are giving up too.. My mom never used to miss any PS episode but after seeing that adbhut act of dhara where she called gombi hatyara for saving his wife in a most logical way, she switched to the other show that was started on zee saying, " Ye dhara aur Shiva k chakkar me bechare gombi aur Raavi ki zindagi kharab ho rahi hai par inhe koi kuch nhi bolega " She got frustrated with Suman & Shiva during third angle track but eventually gave up realising it's just a regressive show nothing else.. I was sticking to it due to kdice but me too not watching since one month, ab to clips bhi nhi dekhti

Obviously.audience are not fools. Be it chote sheher ke aur bade sheher ke. Kisi bhi character ke liyee aa aa bgm Baja dene se audience symphatize nahi karegi, and kisi character ke pain ko trivialise karne ke liye comedy bgm Baja doge to audience hasegi nahi.

Both these periods had gradual growth because the story was building up. Once they started doing bait and switch, woh bhi week by week, its mostly stayed in the average zone......tho with sudden spikes for high drama Shivi tracks.

Re this separation: its again going to depend on the build up. Imo, they've started that today with the back and forth between Shivi.

Tbh, I liked Raavi giving it back to Shiva today.....if they can build on this drama for even a week without Dhara ka saaya, trp can increase again.

I haven't watched today's episode yet. But yes, if they can give the separation a good build up, highlight the emotions and thoughts of both shiva and raavi, keep the bhabijaap minimal, add some family scenes and scenes of other characters in between. then definitely this will work.
