Don't fancy her being citified. At least Adi accepted her village ways and ate spaghetti like she did. And none of those girls were any good if they just made fun of her, after all their ancestors would have eaten the same way and it was just rude. But Imlie will lose her character if she starts dressing and acting like everyone else. Totally arrogant of Aryan calling everyone else idiots. Glad Imlie answered him back on that. This is just like My Fair Lady, turning someone less cultured into a lady, which is not really right.

Why is everyone criticizing Aryan. Agreed I did not like the jaanwar jaise eating reference...it was not right, too harsh and uncalled for in that scenario. But his overall point of her growing is right. They have never shown that Imlie wants to always remain in a villager avatar. Adi loves her as is and even he asked her to learn to speak English. Adi is not actively encouraging her to grow..but if Imlie wanted to - he would support her.

If you lived in a village and came to the city, you have 2 choices...adapt to the local standards and fit/blend in and be accepted...or stand up for your right to be different and attract attention and not always positive. Both are equally good choices. Why is everyone sanctimoniously seemingly saying that the second option is the one that is the loftier one. There is nothing wrong with adapting to the standards of the place and society you move in. Tell me how many of the people watching the show will choose to remain as is - if they moved from the village to the city. It will be a small percentage. We want in our TV character someone who is not typically of the real world and put a premium on it as well?? As though to remain as is and still gain respect is something to be very proud of. It's up to the person. Imlie then wanted to stay as is...now if she is seeing Aryan's POV and changing. Why would she lose her character in the bargain? There is no right or wrong - neither Adi or Aryan are wrong here. It's a factor of time and influence. Not a basis to judge either Adi or Aryan.

I for one find it unrealistic that Imlie still speaks with a very heavy accent. one year of Delhi life with minimal exposure to her roots should have made a difference..in the way she speaks sub-consciously. The makers are keeping her this way unchanged intentionally for effect - to draw attention that the 'organic' show has a native speaking lead actress and its unusual and to throw the naukrani tag about. It's not really supporting the plot. If they really wanted to address a social issue with clothes, accent, dialect and societal standing, they would not have such harsh insults and toxicity and again and again refer to her as naukrani with no one ever speaking up in her defense. The makers are using her styling and naukrani tag for cheap tactics. Like using poverty for negative attention - this is using village characteristics to demean and sensationalize. As such I would much prefer she adapts and moves on in life. I've had enough of CVS underlining the point that her clothes and accent don't get her respect. The point is well taken and whole society is not changing during the show duration - so pls move on.
