I think the main thing is to remember that fiction is separate from real life. But the teens that get attracted to these books don't have that kind of maturity

This is why I never recommend starting off with these sorts of books. If you're a reader since you were little, you can enjoy it or laugh it off, but you also disconnect afterwards and move on to a new book.

The newbies don't really get that, they start fantasising about this stuff and that's when it gets harmful for them. They can't recognise the red flags irl, instead of running away from these ppl they romanticise them 😪
