There is that possibility, and I also think you may be right somewhere. I find her stupid as she cannot see when things are right in front of her. She started this whole drama when she accused Rajiv by saying he was harassing her. Then she went on and on and on and the knife was the final straw. In my opinion a disturbed person has no place in a reality show like this where your mental strength is tested daily. How many of us work with people we absolutely cannot stand but I bet none of us would go attack them with a knife or start ranting like a lunatic.

In my opinion it was a very bad panic attack, just like before as when she went into the room, she was calm as a cucumber. That was 180 degree turn from her I am going to do this and do that. She has zero control over herself which is extremely dangerous. She is not fit for the show. She was funny with Rajiv I will give her that but the lady needs to be treated not playing in the show.

if someone is having nervous breakdown, they will think it’s all drama so let’s just yell at them to calm them down. I haven’t seen the episode but if it’s anxiety or panic attack, most people are not equipped to deal with them unless you have psych background or training .
thats why it’s big boss and team that should have stepped up.

Thats why awareness is important and more than that, kindness is important.

She is not doodh ki dhuli herself. Also, will you support a person who is saying so many vile things?

I wouldn't.

Also, I know ki wo knife se kuch nahi karti. na khud ko. na kisi dusre ko.

But, agar galti se bhi kisi ko laga. who will take the responsibility?

She f'd up. It wasn't because of any breakdown. Usne jyada hi kar diya.

Also, aise game show me where people are playing against each other, why would you bring someone who has any mental issues?

As a contestant it's not my responsibility to deal with people's tantrums or even medical issues. You take them out if you can't deal with it.

That's the reason I am not happy with special treatment being given to Shamita.

Agar ye sab medical reasons hai to don't participate na. Already those who are participating are not on an equal level due to their already built fanbases.

But, aur cheezo ki kyu special treatment mile?

Also, as audience mujhe ye accha nahi lagta. Medically unfit vagera agar koi hai to that person wouldn't get sympathy from me in this show. I don't watch Bigg Boss because I want to see how humane these people can be. I am sure nobody is an AH and all have their human/moral values with them. But, why give someone the opportunity to exploit this on this show? This isn't the right platform.

Everyone was standing there. No one came there to help her except Umar. Only Umar was trying to calm her down. Karan, teja, pratik, simba, nishant, vishal they were standing there as audience and jay, neha and shamita were instigating Shammo instead of letting her go.

After this I would say iss ghar main insaniyat sirf Umar main hi hai. Rest of those are just spineless, selfish souls.

She was beyond control and so are her anger issues. We all get angry and we all have had at one point fought badly but normal healthy individual is in control. They should know when one is playing a game and that was lacking in Afsana. Not defending Shamita as she is not my favorite but your mental health is your responsibility. If anyone is to be blamed is her family who must know how bad her condition is and didn't try to intervene. A person who wants to kill himself you don't take them near the edge of the cliff and say look how beautiful the view is. I don't understand why didn't her family intervened? This is not her first outburst I am sure and it won't be her last. I get she is an adult but she is very ill and she is out of control. She gave the weapon herself for Shamita to fire at her.

I don’t know if she has mental health issues, but it sure seems like it.

In India, mental health isn’t taken seriously. Infact mental health is unheard of in most of India (urban population now knows that mental health is important but seldom do anything about it). If you visit a psychiatrist/psychologist people think you are mad.

Afsana comes from a small village in Punjab. In fact her mother worked as a house help (it was highlighted all the time in Indian Idol where her brother was a contestant). Do you think with a background like that, they understand she has mental health issues?

I can’t blame the family, they no know better. But I do hope now with the doctors on set, she and her family have been made aware and she gets the required help.

She had a manic-depressive episode and was completely out of control. She was screaming, shouting, throwing things around, and it was terrible to watch.

I am aware India's lack of awareness on mental health issues, and I didn't know her mom was a house help. Looks like she is new money and yes you could be right they may not know. But they must know her out of control behavior? For her own self respect that should have been highlighted to her. At the end of the day it is her own responsibility but her family is her support system, right? But yes you are right it is hard for them to know in that case. I hope they now get her the help she needs badly.

The entire scene before that was so painful to watch. I was wincing with horror. Here was a person, in plain sight having a nervous breakdown. And not one person took her hand and tried to take her to the room or to the bed.

She was having a breakdown. The remedy was not to reason or argue with her. It is a breakdown. You have to take that person away and try to calm them down. Instead Jay is loudly shouting at her and telling her she is wrong.

Only Umar was trying to calm her down. But being a guy he can't hug her without her permission. Teja should have stepped up, hugged Afsana and taken her away. Teja was walking around checking out the food and stuff.

Nobody treated a person having a breakdown with humanity. It's like if you see a person with a road accident in the middle of the road, you either pass by or shout at them for blocking the road. This is how the housemates behaved. Nobody helped her. Nobody calmed her. This is basic humanity.

They ALL KNOW she has had doctors called before for her anxiety attack. This wasn't news. Yet people were either attacking her or ignoring her. Nobody was helping her.

Maybe if she had been helped or calmed down. It wouldn't reach the stage that it reached.

---

Even after that Jay and Shamita seemed to be character assassinating her. Shamita made the statement - "I saw something in her eyes" when she had the knife. This is a reputation damaging statement for Afsana.

---

It is just tragic to see the problematic level this season has reached. A patient having a breakdown on national television is not helped at all by anyone.

Iam writing this as a person who have been working as a mental health professional for the past 5 years.

1.Afsana has mental health issues which needs treatment. Probably she is on treatment , as this cannot be the first time she had a breakdown.

2. People have really no idea what are the various mental health disorders , and what should be done in such situations.

3. If a situation like that happend in bb arise , where a person is getting irritable with a knife in hand , first step is move other people away from harm ,

Stop arguing with her and call the help /call the doctor.

4. Umar was able to handle the situation better because he is doctor , who have had his psychiatry posting during mbbs and during his house surgency period. (Even after this many docs do not know what to do because exposure to psychiatry in Indian cariculum of mbbs is less , unless you opt for md psychiatry).

5.road accident is different from mental breakdown.

6. Peoples expectation of HM to cuddle afsana , calming her down is not practical, because there are at high risk that she might harm herself or others. There are instances when people need to be physically or medically restrained .majority of times people with acute nervous breakdown CANNOT BE PACIFIED as shown in various movies and serials. Blaming teja that she didn't hug , pacified and took afsana away is not correct. Many a times psychiatry doctors or nurses are not able to pacify mental breakdown without meds.

7. Her family had seen her getting problems inside the show.why didn't they contacted bb to get her out.No one can ask the housemates to take responsibility of afsansa mental health. It's she or her familys responsibility to make sure that she gets help.

8.. Humanity is a rare idea when mental health is concerned. Stigma is so high its really difficult to explain and make people understand mental health.

9.BB has used afsanas illness for trp , its sad .

10. The only thing hm should have done was to stop arguing with her.

11. Yes there are instances where people have faked mental illness to get their way, so can we blame house mates reservations regarding afsana.

Regarding the sentence ' I saw something in her eyes' by shamita is not necessarily character assassination, because many a times when you are highly emotional , pathologically irritable ,the pupil of your eyes dilate, giving it a glint.

sorry to disagree. Awareness and treatment is more important. Because if one is really kind , then should help others get treatment for mental health. That is the best thing one can do for anyone with mental health issues.

LOVE IS NOT A TREATMENT. It can only aid in treatment.

I think it was a malicious statement from Shamita. She was trying to insinuate that Afsana might commit some kind of crime.
