I can't believe the amount of negativity on this place.
After coming from Twitter/insta it used to give me so much joy to read comments and discusions here. But now everything people say here is bashing, taunting, mocking. Except for few people who only make positive posts everyone else is negative.
Some People saying they won't say anything negative but indirectly continue to bash and mock. The environment of this place has been ruined.
Neither are they happy watching nor will they let other people be happy after watching. So many people I know aren't active here any more, no wonder🙂🙂
Hey,
I would try to put forward a neutral pov as I hear you, and I am probably one of those few people who thoroughly enjoy the track.
This world is a democratic place with freedom of speech; anyone has the right to say anything or feel anything. Anger, joy, angst, disgust, everyone is entitled to their opinions.
In fiction, an opinion is an opinion and can never be a fact. Entertainment, morality, situations and other facets in any relationship are incredibly subjective, and hence any piece of fiction is bound to have polarised and diversified reactions.
The problem occurs when:
1. Name-calling and bashing extends to the actors behind these fictional characters.
2. Indirect jabs are taken at people who enjoy the show or don’t enjoy it.
3. Anyone with an informed pov is looked down upon.
The problem isn’t the negativity, but the problem has a sane and open mind to hear what other people have to say. The challenge with negative emotions is that they have a domino effect. For instance, I find an episode terrible, and I rant; there is a high possibility that many people who haven’t watched the show might see a narrative through my opinionated lens and form another opinion based on my opinion. The result, mass anger and hysterical outburst even without watching and forming an opinion.
The problem isn’t people expressing angst, and the challenge is people fleeing if their opinion doesn’t match the mass sentiments. I dread coming to the EDT mostly because I have a very different viewpoint, but that doesn’t refrain me from speaking.
I need my opinion piece to be heard, and the same goes for people who have left. Express it if you disagree. The ugly spat isn’t a solution.
The conversations appear more meaningful when you keep an open mind, express freely and view it as a piece of fiction.
Also, you never know what’s triggering people. Maybe, someone expressing negatively might be facing such challenges that are starting them in real life.
We never know what battles people fight every day in a patriarchal world.
Instead of choosing not to share, we can let our thoughts flow. If you love the show, express it. Let the world know.
It’s a free forum.
I wouldn't say I like name-calling actors behind characters and shall continue to do so. For me, human beings are essential.
Human beings are selectively hypocritical! We all exist in shades of grey. And, that’s what makes us humans.
Adultery, correct, wrong, morality in fiction are highly subjective matters. Diabolical paradoxes exist in every character. We celebrate patriarchy, patrilocality in the name of marriage. Marriage in itself is a highly patriarchal institution (that’s a debate for later :) ) But, we do guard the institution of marriage with fierce loyalty too.
Anyway, I shall avoid digressing from the topic.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. One can choose what they want to say. Negative or positive hardly matters. Authentic depth and maturity lie in listening to what others have to say., politely disagreeing if you don’t agree and putting forward your viewpoint!
We all have our loops of heaven and hell. Let everyone take the journey of their choice. You take yours!
Please do express your feelings in details. 🤗
Life is too short to be thinking about how people will judge you based on your opinion on a mere TV show.
I do agree; there's a cycle of negativity that has started, but I always tell people, watch with a neutral lens rather than reading the EDT and forming opinions that others have to say.
