To make something solid and tough, weak structures need to break. Only then foundations of something new can be laid.
This is where I see Pallavi and Raghav's relationship at this point in time. They found each other with great effort caught in the mesh of life, they have lost each other somewhere. Now if they want to find the same love, they need to first let go all the past burdens, burn the old miseries and then rise back from the ashes. This is essential for them.
Raghav is not able to accept himself and own up his mistakes, how will be accept Pallavi and her love.
"You are not worth"
"You are inadequate and regrettable"
"You are undeserving"
"You will stay wretched all your life"
These are the words he was subjected to for 10 precious years of his life by none other than his own mother. It's etched into his subconscious and such scars doesn't vanish so soon.
Besides, he has been alone... so he was accustomed to sorting his issues himself, I have seen such people and know that it really really takes time for them to open up and start sharing. Not because they don't want to. But because, they are not accustomed to it and they don't know how to do it. It takes time to break these walls. Raghvi relationship has still not matured to that stage because they have had no time. Especially after love confession it has been about expectations rather than just letting go and being themselves with each other.
So today when he feels helpless and broken, I am not surprised. He tries to hold onto things so tight that instead of repairing them, he breaks them further. The wounds that he has suffered are even the old ones which honestly never healed. And now he has inflicted fresh ones on his already broken self. He feels once again, he has made a blunder and now its like he's giving up. Waiting for someone to pick up the next stone and hurl at him and outcast him all over again. So far he only fears that Pallavi will leave him, but the severity of the impact hasn't hit him yet. Maybe he's yet not able to let his subconscious wrap his head around the possibility of her actually leaving because somewhere, her promises that she's not going anywhere also lurks. Everytime, she comes back. So he's not thinking what will happen post her departure and how he needs to be desperate to prevent her from leaving.
After the revelation, when she actually leaves, thats when he'll jolt out of his guilt and rush to get her back. It's like how for 10 long years, he kept begging Amma to take him back. He kept repenting. He kept hating himself. This time too, he's going to land into the same ditch where he'll take anything that she offers to hold her back. (Please writers... for once kuch acha likh do)
Currently he's in a vortex of self-pity and self-loathing. This is soon gonna turn into a windstorm leading to the path of self-destruction because if she's not around, there's no anchor to hold the beast inside him.
P.S. Will write about Pallavi in sometime
