Shakuni was a grey character, honestly. But they're still compelling. Their motivations were clear. (I don't think I truly hate most negative characters so 😅). Fateh's motivation is a blur most of the time that we're confused with him.

Yep, but now plenty of things have happened for Fateh to realise he's stuck in the middle. He might not be as tolerant with Jasso and who knows, might even end up being the one to slowly push her away.
