It is pretty much a fantasy world. I watch most shows to analyze them and I'd bring my sisters into it and hope they could critically analyze something too. I like to see the connective webs and what not. Plot holes sometimes bother me, it depends on how impactful it is in the first place. But there's no way I'd say some relationships and shows are progressive, even if their plot involves risky topics. Some current shows in Tamil are triggering as well and pretends to show feminist empowerment and then turns around to put the FL or ML in abusive/poor situations once more. Some are just much more compelling to watch and others make you murderous.
I guess our fantasy worlds depend on who we are. Aunties, married women relate to, love this kinda shit because they remember the petty, bitchy squabbles they faced(lol I've heard so many in my own family), however the glamor, jewelry, and all that stuff along with a hot guy, seems like a good deal. If you're used to bullshit, I guess it's more tolerable in expensive attire and diamond jewelry. This is why so many shows deal with poor girl with a billionaire concept(and the guys happen to be utter douchebags).
As much as characters and their analysis attracts me, itv shows are generally too infuriating to tolerate. I stay away, but somehow got stuck here, and now it's a bad addiction.
