That was lousy writing bro. Deewangi should've been only 25 episodes or something long...but they dragged it to 40+ and needed a reason to put Haroon-Nageen together.

The real Sultan is who we see in initial episodes, not a bad guy but just a lonely soul with anger issues. Koi samajhne wala usse mil jaaye toh bas, that's all he needed. A genuine person who would spend her life with him not because he was the Sultan Durrani, but coz of mutual love.
