so basically mr nolan was consulting kip thorne a physicist for movie and he gave all the equations and everything to the graphica team to construct the blackhole. They were expecting the typical hole from artist representation but when it got rendered it had this secondary arc of light. They all thiught they made a mistake and went to him to check it out when thorne explained that it is correct. They actualky have two papers published out of it for the most accurate representation of a scientific phenomena
