Sorry for taking so long to update but I went on a trip to Portugal.
I know you care a damn about it but still I want to share that I had a wonderful moment.
What a beautiful country. I wish I could stay a bit longer.

Coming back to the chapter, I definitely wanted to write a smarter Virat than in the show and give a valid reason for him to doubt Pulkit instead of just a simple letter from the show.

I really hope you will like the twists and turns of the story. Please, let me know how you liked it.

Pakhi waited around fifteen minutes before her friend showed up at the café. Without wasting time she extended the bag of money. Excited to do business with his old friend he showed an envelop to her.

« I digged, digged and digged to finally find this. The lady in the picture is an old college mate of Pulkit Deshpande. Her name is Sanjana Pandey. Now you know what you have to do. », he said.
At first shocked with the picture, she finally replied with a satisfying smile, « Thanks. You are awesome. It's always nice to deal with you. »

During their lunch break Virat and Sai met Pulkit at a coffee shop. The latter explained to both of them that Harini was his and Devyani's daughter. He knew Virat was a dutiful man and the truth about his family would make him go against them. He preferred to keep it a secret that Kaku, Ninad and Omkar knew about Harini and refused to take her with them. Harini was only six months old when she got separated from Devyani. Back then he wondered how could Devyani stay away from her child but now he kind of guessed it that they must have told her a made up story. He raised his daughter alone till Madhuri entered their lives a few years later after he saved her from an abusive marriage and gave her shelter as his sister.

« Harini calls Madhuri as Maa because Madhuri calls Harini as Hari. », Pulkit explained.
« Pulkit, you have to tell Harini about Devi Tai. She is a child and it will be hard for her to take Devi Tai as her mother after so many years that too when Tai is not mentally stable. », Virat said.
« I agree with Virat Sir. Both Devi Tai and Harini should meet and know each other before the wedding. », Sai said.
« Ok if that's what you think is right. », Pulkit agreed.

After dropping Sai off to her college he went back to his duty while thinking about how his Devi Tai never mentioned about Harini. How could she forget about her daughter but remember having a husband ? He could sense it that there was a missing part of the story. Either Pulkit was lying to him or else he was hiding something.

Happy seeing the big amount of money, Pakhi's friend decided to provide her an extra help by sharing Sanjana Pandey's address with her. Pakhi decided to meet her directly at her place.

Virat's focus shifted to his wife from the file he was studying. He picked his phone and leaned back comfortably in his chair. He looked at his wife on the screen. It was a picture taken during the brithday trip. His mind went back to their good moments. Immediately after he realized that he was smiling, he shook his head to get back to his work. He checked his phone again and called her to ask her out for dinner as she had a day off from her part time job. She couldn't accept the offer because she already had plans with her college mates. Once they hung up, Virat made a face as she had plans with Ananya and Ajinkya.

« All the people whose names start with an A are her friends. Can't she befriend with a Bela, Chandni, Divyanka, Pallavi, Urvashi or Zoya ? Nahin nahin Maharani dhund dhund ke chunegi Amay, Aniket, Ajinkya, Ananya ko. », he said annoyed then composed himself. « So what Virat ?Why are you so bothered ? Are you getting jealous ? Was she right the other day on her birthday ? Stop your nonsense Virat and get back to work. », he said to himself.

Later that night Virat returned home later than usual. He stayed at the police station to work as he knew his wife was busy studying with her friends but was surprised to see her home already.

« How did the studies go with your friends ? », he asked.
« Good. Why are you so late today ? », she replied knowing that he was annoyed that she chose her college mates over him.
« One of my colleagues, Urvashi Patel, she invited me for a dinner on her promotion. », he replied.

He didn't know why he made up a story ? He didn't know why he wanted to see her reaction by the mention of another woman ?

« She invited only you ? », she asked a little jealous.
« Yes. Why ? Is there any problem ? », he asked trying to read her reaction.
« No. Why would I have any problem ? I hope you enjoyed it. », she smiled but deep down was unhappy.
« It was awesome. We had so much fun. », he replied.

He couldn't read that behind the smile she had already cursed ten times his imaginary colleague, Urvashi Patel. He walked to the washroom and as soon as he closed the door she clenched her fists mimicking his « It was awesome ? We had so much fun. ».
When he came outside freshened up and wearing his nightwear, she was busy with her books. He sat down next to her and extended a box in front of her. When she looked up, he signed her with his eyes to have a look at it. She opened it and found a pastry cake which brought a huge smile on her face.

« It's from the restaurant where we had our dinner. I loved the dessert so much that I thought about bringing one for you. », he said.
Sai's smile disappeared and she pushed away the cake annoyedly, « Toh phir khud hi khaaiye na. »,
He sniffed around her, « Do you smell that ? Something is burning. »
She looked daggers at him and snatched the box from his hand, « The only thing that's smelling is the vanilla. »

He knew that even if she was behaving like it didn't affect her it actually did. He watched her eat the cake and slowly went closer. He held her hand, ate the last bite of the cake and leaked her index finger. She got hit by a strange kind of sensation in her entire body.

« There is no Urvashi Patel in our department. », he whispered in her ear.

She lowered her eyes with a smile and blushed. He got surprised because in all honesty he expected her to show her fierce side and hit him badly be it physically or verbally. He smiled at this side of hers, calm and blushy.


The next morning during the breakfast Kaku questioned Virat why he came home late. Was it because he met Pulkit ? She was quite worried but Sai's interruption brought some relief.

« Kaku, Virat Sir was enjoying a candlelight dinner with Urvashi Patel yesterday night. »

Unable to control his laughter, Virat choked. The elders frowed their eyebrows while his two brothers made an « Oh ! » in shock. Pakhi was confused.

« Too many in the race to get Virat Sir, isn't it ? », Sai murmured standing shoulder to shoulder with Pakhi.
« Damadji, someone wants to meet you. », Usha Maushi came to inform him.
« This early in the morning ? », Ninad asked.

Virat got up and went to the living room. The entire family followed him. A woman was sitting on the sofa. She leaped up seeing Virat in uniform. She looked at Pakhi who forgot to inform her that she got an offer to mess up with an armed force family background. She cursed herself for not having done her homework before accepting the deal. Chavan Niwas. How stupid of her that she couldn't see it coming ! She should have guessed it that it was that famous Chavan's house that the entire city talked about.

« Who are you and why do you want to meet me ? », Virat brought her out of her thoughts.
« I am Sangeeta Deshpande. I need you to save my marriage and I want to help you to save your sister's life from a fraud. », she replied.

If this introduction shocked most of the Chavans, Kaku smiled at Pakhi and whispered a thank you. Ninad and Omkar were surprised too but they knew their sister-in-law. She was capable of anything. They were curious to know how did she manage to bring a fake Sangeeta Deshpande.

« Sangeeta Deshpande ? Pulkit's wife ? », Ninad asked.
« Yes. », the woman replied.
« Whoever you are, I can arrest you for false accusation. You know that, right ? », Virat asked. « Before you end up behind the bars, I would suggest you to leave. », he added showing her the door.

Pakhi panicked for two seconds that Virat didn't believe her and she wasn't even sure if Sanjana Pandey would have the guts to follow the plans after hearing about getting arrested. But Sanjana who needed the money, continued with the act. She took out a picture from her bag and showed it to Virat. Shocked he looked at his wife. Everyone wanted to know who was in the picture. He first showed it to Sai who didn't get the time to digest that Kaku snatched it from her. One by one everyone saw it and were shocked. Pulkit and Sanjana were in a wedding attire in the picture.

« Pulkit didn't get married to Devyani Chavan but me. I didn't know he was cheating on me. One day Devyani disappeared from his life and everything went back to normal between us. We even had a daughter. But recently Devyani came back in his life and he wants to leave me for her. I am here to save my marriage. Please, help me. », she cried.
« I knew it. That servant's son was going to ruin my daughter's life. I saved her life once and now he is back again. », Kaku acted that she was devastated.

Virat still not convinced wanted a real proof. He wanted to dig into it before finding Pulkit guilty. The latter came to the Chavan Niwas at the right time. He wanted to talk to Devyani about their daughter but got the biggest shock of his life. Everyone turned their heads when he pronounced a « Sanju ». Virat and Sai frowned. Was the story told by the lady true after all ? Pakhi and Kaku were happy that his « Sanju » would be a disadvantage for him. Sanjana looked down, embarrassed. She felt bad for betraying her old friend but she needed the money.

« You know her ? », Virat asked angrily.
« Yes. We are college friends. », Pulkit replied.
« And she is now your wife ? », Omkar asked.
« What ? No. », Pulkit said confused.
« How can you lie so blatantly, Pulkit ? Thirteen years ago we got married. Are you going to lie about that too ? », Sanjana asked.
« What are you talking about ? », Pulkit asked shocked.
« This ? », Virat showed the picture.
« Virat it's not what you think. », Pulkit started to explain.
« What I think ? Tell me then what I think. », Virat said angrily.
« Virat let me explain. This is an old picture of a college play. », Pulkit said then looked at Sanjana, « Sanjana tell him that this is a college play get up. I helped you because Uday was down with high fever. »
« Sanjana ? Sangeeta. You also forgot my name ? Or is it because there is another Sanjana in your life ? How many women do you have in your life, Pulkit ? », Sanjana asked.
« Why are you doing this to me, Sanju ? », Pulkit asked desperately.
« Why are you ruining my life, Pulkit ? », Sanjana asked with tears not because she was acting but because she was feeling guilty.
« Leave. », Virat ordered Pulkit.
« Virat this is not true, believe me. », Pulkit tried to defend himself.
« Pulkit LEAVE. Truth always comes out. », Virat pushed him outside.

His last sentence wasn't just for Pulkit but everyone present there. He didn't know what to believe and for now the best option was to send him back home. He didn't know who was lying and who was saying the truth. That's why he wanted to investigate but secretly. He wanted to make everyone believe that he believed to the story. If there was one percent chance that his family was involved in trapping Pulkit, he won't let them succeed. If Pulkit is really guilty then he will punish him severely for playing with his Devi Tai.

Too shocked, Sai paced up and down in her room. Virat after calming down his family went to see his wife. He knew she was also not in her right mind after what happened. She always wanted the best for his Devi Tai and she was genuinely so happy for Devyani and Pulkit's reunion after almost a decade.

« This is unbelievable. How could he do this to Devi Tai ? », she ran towards him as soon as he entered.
« I don't know. », he said unable to understand anything.

He gently pulled her against him and ran his fingers through her hair to calm her down.
Pakhi went to Bhavani's room and both smiled.

« Thank you Patralekha. I knew I could count on you. », Bhavani said.
« This won't last for long. The truth will come out soon. You have to find a permanent solution to keep Devi Tai away from Pulkit. », Pakhi replied.
« How ? », Bhavani asked.
« By getting Devi Tai married to someone else. », Pakhi suggested.
