I dont find him manipulative. He is concerned for his family reputation. And his thoughts are right. The society they live in is an orthodox one.
He knew how jasmin is and decided to take care of the matter as he didnt want any sort of drama in front of guests followed by humiliation. As a father of the groom he was right in his place knowing the fact how dramatic jasmin was.
Ksv speaks from his heart and speaks the truth. Thats why his words are bitter. He is disciplined and has great expectations from his kids.
