Go ahead and treat the issue as to showcase Duryodhan's soft side as a father of his dotting daughter. And add a few lines on Bhanumathi's inner turmoils regarding her husband's weird ways of treating women in the royal palace.

Actually I had not thought much of Bhanumati as a character. Will add an angle of it too. It would help create a contrast

That's so true the makers take too much of creative liberty, we could take some at least

TBH, I have a problem with any stories involving redemption of rapists.

You can find excuses for even murder. There is absolutely no justification for things like rape or child abuse.

Bhanumati the name is not mentioned in mahabharat itself. What however is mentioned that Duryodhan attends the swayamavar of princess of Kalinga with karna. It's a simple ceremony where the bride will garland the groom of her choice. Kalinga princess comes to Duryodhan but walks past him as she doesn't want to garland him. An angry Duryodhan upset at not being chosen grabs her and runs out of the swayamavar. Karna protects Duryodhan by fighting with other king's. The other king's are defeated and Karna and Duryodhan bring the princess ro Hastinapur to be married to Duryodhan.

Same thing happens with Lakshmana, she passes by Saamb not selecting him. So saab grabs her and runs out. Saamb is alone so he gets caught and imprisoned. But Balram comes to Hastinapur drags ganga water to flood Hastinapur and threatens Duryodhan and Bhishma to hand over Saamb and Lakshmana.

Duryodhan is then forced to handover Saamb and his daughter to Balram and she is married off to him

But by that logic is not Arjuna Subhadra marriage a rape too?

Two things which make Arjuna subhadra marriage different.

It was Krishna the brother of the bride who asked Arjuna to take her away and before asking him to do that he says I will speak to my father and Arjuna also takes Yudhishtir's permission. When other Yadavas get upset and are making plans to go after Arjun to punish him, Balram says Krishna is quiet let's ask. Krishna says I am supporting Arjun as him as our son in-law is beneficial for us. And Balram then sends for Arjun to return back and have a proper marriage. So abduction is initiated by the brother of the bride and converted to formal arrangement between families. This is as per northern recessions of Mahabharat

In southern recenssion Subhadra's brother Gada who is Arjun's classmate at Drona ashram praises him to the moon and Subhadra falls in love with him and Krishna arranges for subhadra to host the brahmachari arjuna in disguise while he visits Dwarka. Eventually Arjuna reveals himself to her they elope with Subhadra being the charioteer at Krishna's suggestion because here Balrama is keen on fixing Subhadra's marriage with Duryodhana.

So there are two conflicting stories of Subhadra Harana where in one story her opinion is not asked for in one version and other has her consent.

However both stories are consistent thaT it is Krishna who arranges the abduction and marriage happens in Dwarka with blessings from both families

Most importantly Subhadra was not picked up from her swayamavar where she could express her dissent.

In case of Saamb and Duryodhan the brides themselves reject the grooms upfront when other king's and their family members are present in their swayamavar

Second the brides families other king's there put up a fight and lose...

So no consent of brides and forced consent of families.

Most important is all these marriages be it subhadra or Bhanumati or lakshmana were perfectly legal.

Just like marital rape is even today in India..

I guess in simpler terms a girls consent doesn't matter her family's does. So Arjuna had Subhadra's brother and father's consent and that made it ok, While Duryodhan and Saanb did not so it was not ok

So i think this jai kanaiya lal ki will come in place of RK, after RK end. Looks like that.
