It will also depend on how successful this season of Saregamapa is - because nobody is ever sure, what succeeds. Like they say in film industry, if they knew success formula, nobody would ever make a flop.

SRGMP has not been able to achieve the branding success of Idol. They focus on a test of skills and are not really concerned about age, marital status, presentability etc. of the contestants. They seem to have a weakness for the handicapped or different. But despite being a skill-focused platform their contribution to the industry post Idol's entry in the market has been limited to Vaishali Mhade and Kamal Khan. The Lil Champs platform is much stronger and regularly throws up future stars.

Last season of seniors was a mini disaster with plummeting TRP's and a winner who no one can recall. The 2016 seniors was better received and had contestants like Rupali Jagga and Jyotika Tangri. Also Sachin from TCT.

I think all these shows need at least one or two crowd-pulling icons. The 2 previewed artists are not an indicator that they have a star in hiding somewhere. But let's see.

Nihal can be seen very briefly in the background in the above clip. The following picture has him clearly. Not sure of the source so I don't know who the others are.

Earlier during the live sessions before KBC episode I had speculated that PD and Nihal are living together because in different videos their backgrounds were the same. This could be from that time - or if it is recent then it lends credence to the speculation.

Edit: this lady must be the ine taking the video as her voice is audible.

Interestingly one of the people is followed by Darshini and the bio links to the Octopus YT page. The others seem to be friends of PD. At least one of them is also a friend or at least a fan of Nihal.

I understand that some compulsions possibly forced her to make the choice.
One was the fact that she was hindered by her exams and Covid and lost traction by the time things were limping back to normalcy. She had become a forgotten artist.

2nd was her complete disconnect with the regional market. She stays far away from Kolkata and is not permitted much freedom of movement. Not being a Zee artist, she is not invited for Zee's Bengali shows. Sony has no Bengali channel. Lack of connections and exposure mean that there are no openings in the regional market which has talent to spare in any case. A Zee connect may help her break that deadlock.

3rd was Arunita's rise. She was fairly safe after Ankona's success. But Arunita took the competition by the scruff of the neck and made every melody singer in their age group irrelevant. Not just skill, Arunita's popularity is very damaging for others in the same space as show business revolves around the popularity matrix. Without shows there is no income.

4th is possibly the encouragement from The Content Team. That set up loves Neelu. They possibly dislike Aru as much. This is their reposte to Arunita. This is my conjecture but I think I know enough about the 3 - Neelu/Aru/TCT to make this statement.

Anyway, good luck to Neelanjana. Big gamble. She has to do better than her last effort otherwise all is lost for her. She will get a lot of help from the team and the bench, don't know about the jury though.

All said n done..I wasn't much impressed with whatever little I heard from her till now..

Apart from Aru the only melody singer I liked was Nihira Joshi..
