I think Karan's prejudice against rich people is somehow related to his brother's death, he is bitter against them and bitterness always comes with some bad experience.

And well sid is being sid i mean that man didn't care about setting his house on fire he could have died in that and this means he is so irresponsible towards life so why would he care about difficulties in someone's life when he didn't care about his life.
