In our Bengali culture, meeting of a bride and groom in kalratri is thought to be inauspicious. There's a legend behind it. Lakhindar, the son of a renowned businessman Chand Saudagar, was bitten by a snake and died immediately while he was in a room with his newly wed bride, Behula, on the night after the marriage. That's why it is deemed inauspicious for the bride and groom to meet on kalratri.
