I feel makers might have changed her professional cause there's already one doctor as lead.

Quite possible it's a love marriage thing. They met in bar where he's also working. Initial days all cosy. Then the abuses start either with him losing his job or due to her growing popularity or may be he turns into alcoholic or drug addict
