KNPH was Ameesha's film as much as Hrithik. It was a solid meaty role for a debutante. She got to showcase varied emotions and the story was entirely around her from start to finish.

Unlike refugee which became all abt Abhishek and Sunil Shetty.

There was nothing challenging abt Refugee except getting audience to theatres for a boring film 😆

KNPH was a hit because of HR, he developed a massive fan following at the time because of this film. People barely paid Ameesha any attention. It would have worked with any other heroine.

KNPH was a rinse and repeat formula of the time which worked - something that Rakesh Roshan had used many times in the past that worked every time - getting killed by villains, atyachar, revenge, doppelgängers, rebirth.. 😆

Really Ameesha? For dancing in the islands and being a rich dad's pretty girl!! Ahh that I think comes naturally to her 🤣🤣

Kareena was good in refugee. Her role was also good and her acting was acting. I won't say best but yeah it was bearable.

So Kareena all the way.

Well I said the same thing that the movie became abt Hrithik after the release as people fell in love with him. But to say Ameesha had a flower pot role is a joke. As it was a Love story abt Two persons. She didn't have a blink and you miss role.

Ameesha too did well for herself after that and bagged big movies after KNPH. From Gadar to Humraaz to movies with Salman. But she was not a good actor and showed no growth. Somehow Rakesh Roshan brought out her best in KNPH while others could not.

I don't think KNPH would have made the same impact or would have bearable with Kareena. She was bearable only after Jab we met.

As far as KNPH being a commercial cinema is concerned, refugee was neither a commercial blockbuster nor a critical masterpiece. Only Sonu Nigam songs were good. 😆

Refugee wasn’t a blockbuster or a commercial movie.

For most actresses first movies flop but post that they do manage to remain.. for actors it’s the other way round. Many actresses - their first movie is a hit but they fade away in some time for whatever reason..

But then what did Ameesha also do? There is no point of us arguing who deserved it.

Ameesha is nowhere in the industry and Kareena is still getting projects or atleast signing a few of them. At the end Filmfare is a joke.

But from all stands Kareena is still better than Ameesha.

Nobody cared abt Ameesha doesn't mean she didn't have a meaty role as a debutante. Just like in Ghungroo, nobody cared abt Vaani when Hrithik danced for only 5 secs but that doesn't mean Vaani didn't get a chance to show her skills. She even did wore swimming suit, danced and that pool circle number in that song 😆

She had a good role as a debutant in the sense that it gave her recognition and famous.
