Duryodhan got badly misguided by his Mamashree, and none of his parents noticed this. As parents, they never snipped out Duryodhan's insecurities and jealousy from breeding because somewhere Dhritarashtra was insecure of Pandu, and Gandhari trusted her brother too much. Given right guidance, Duryodhan too would have been a strong willed and fine prince prince, like the Pandavs.
