In fact tc has the history of twisting actor's word. So lot people doesn't even take their interviews seriously.
Vijay was hated from day one. They actually sketched vijay's character quite well. But had to butcher because of audience demand. I really don't know how he was so wrong in initial episode. people started massively hating on Vijay because he started suspecting pallavi and many times stopped her from meeting raghav. The fuel to the fire was raghav one liners in respect to vijay which excited the fandom.
That Vijay might have his own flaws but he had some kind of self respect in terms of money and dignity which this new vijay after raghvi marriage lacks
