I think the makers want to show that they have got this level of intimacy and they are basically teasing us by saying see they had an almost kiss
Imagine her trauma and suffering that his words ' i'll be there sooon" brought so much relief to her that she immediately went for a hug and closed her eyes getting that sense of security back in his arms. My heart hurts for her 😭
