Usually for such scenes they add an extra piece of cloth to the saree that is burned and can be detached easily. I think I saw it in Jafar's BTS.

Yeah seems like it was a gamble that paid off. I still can't get over the scene where he took Amma's blessings like a soldier before going to war. He's a complete package. Nazar na lagey.
