I've been wanting to do one in person but then COVID happened. I ended up in 2 virtually. One my team won and the other we came in second place (lost by 2 f-ing points!!!!). They are so much fun and definitely something I'm looking to do in-person. It's a lot about staying calm and playing to your strengths. I'm a mix between analytical and creative, so I do well with numbers, patterns, or thinking outside the box. Someone else in my team had a really good memory, so we had one round where we had to remember 10 numbers or something and she did that. We had one guy who was really good with pattern recognition and one who could multitask really well.
And both these rooms I was randomly assigned to a team so I didn't even know these people in advance. We just introduced ourselves and dived right into it. Your strengths quickly come out as you go through the rooms and there's a level of trust that usually takes some to build, but in an escape room it just happens.
In fact, they were good relationship building moments as well. You end up really building up a relationship with your team in a quick span of time. The first one was a team building event from our company's side and I ended up in a team of people I rarely work with and now we are sort of each others' go-to people for any questions or problems we have.
