I couldn’t really sympathise with him too, because I see him in that light only. Also the way he has behaved in past few episodes- there was a smirk plastered on his face when Raghav goes to jail (not that he’s concerned about his son’s case), then his extremely disrespectful words to Pallavi and warning her not to enter his house again, aur uske baad treating her like an object which he now wants for his son. Denying Raghav to even see his wife. And the smug face he has had all this time.

It’s just that the actor playing VD was phenomenal in the scene, it felt very real. That’s why people could sympathise.
