Yes, no doubt this still leaves room open for long term problems cuz he doesn't seem to realize the damage Malini can cause with giving her own twisted interpretation about their relationship.....but overall toh Adi ke priorities abhi bhi clear hain.....Imlie jaap😆

Lol selfishness kahan se aa gayi isme he legit didn't relate the 2 things for that to even happen caz it has no connection to him in his thought process selfish toh tab hota when he would be shown to contemplate ke main imlie ko nahi bata sakta woh thought aayi hi kahan caz it is not at all important for him.. as for him they are beyond that point..now didi ka jo bhi sach hai doesn't impact their relationship simple as he has imlie ka consent to be with him as his wife and moving forward and with the truth out things are different

Comparisons to.other shows are not allowed so plz refrain from using them.It is a much used trope in almost every serial the only difference here by the looks of it is they have not made imlie look like trash her dress is decent from what I can tell and not something disgusting ya off-putting level of tack. Make up karegi didi Ganda but that too looks still better than other shows and I am sure adi will call that out and he BETTER be caz didi ne gande naapaak haath laga diye if it would be on me I would somehow even get her a skin transplant too

Adi's detachment about Malini is a double-edged sword.....mainly cuz he's dealing with a totally brainless woman.

He knows deep inside that he can't bring himself to care beyond token politeness for her but he can sense that she is extra emotionally dependent on him toh he gives her these token promises of dosti hoping that will be enough of a lollipop for her and iska khud ka guilt bhi kam ho jaayega😆

This shows that Adi somewhere knows that Malini can't handle any truth which involves someone not caring that much for her......he is inherently a truthful person who has prioritized the truth in all other parts of his life except for this one with Malini because he knows it will not be well received and given her tendency to use her health as an excuse for everything, he can't take on the burden of someone dying over his truth.

Despite that, he still finds loopholes however much he can to let her know there is a limit to what level of emotional guilt she can squeeze out of him😆.....matlab he doesn't want her dying over learning the full truth of how little she matters to him😆, but he also doesn't want her to be in any false illusions that she matters to the extent she is imagining😆.

That is why this token gehri dosti jaap is his idea of a happy compromise😆.....iske aage peechhe he doesn't ask any questions and is quick to accept any claim that shows Malini as a mahaan saint who is only his gehri dost😆......

He will only dig deeper beyond this if something starts impacting Imlie.....otherwise he's all don't ask, don't tell when it comes to Malini😆

I really can't say that this makes him selfish.....to me it looks more like a guy who was trapped in an emotionally abusive relationship for a long time and still feels some level of obligation towards his abuser despite otherwise having overcome and figured out his priorities in life.

He just can't be honest with her to the extent he would want too caz he knows next thing would be her doing some suicide attempt and that is a burden too big and I get it nobody wants to be the reason for someone dying even if it is not your fault to begin with that guilt is way too big and will.slowly kill you inside..adi is just being extra careful right now .. he is walking on eggshells since always with regards to this woman and her sensitivity but esp now caz she just pulled the stunt again a day ago so how is he supposed to say anything beside his token am your friend.. clearly kuch hai nahi wahan dekh lia even friends are more concerned yeh samjhta hai ke bas ek ratta hua essay keh dena is enough and he isn't wrong caz for didi as far as someone keep giving her these hollow words she is good and will take it as the greatest tokens and care and concern matlab itne main hi she was like my mom ki planning is working 😆

Adi is feeling the weight of yet another suicide attempt from her and he also knows that Malini is the type to get happy over token promises so he keeps on giving her that much to distract her from her "depressive" tendencies.....anyone in his place would do the same.....kisi ki jaan bachaa raha hai woh if you view it from his perspective😆.....toh ismein kaisi selfishness, bhai?

Mujhe toh wohi abusive relationship wala pattern dikh raha hai ki after a while you start doing things in self-preservation and to stop your abuser from causing more harm to you or themselves.....he is trying to "manage" Malini by letting her cling to the fantasy of how she is very important in his life as a dost and she can even take over his bedroom if she wants😆......he thinks itna sab karne se Malini ki "delicate mental state" ko stability mil jaayegi toh no big deal from his side to do this much.

See if he really considered himself her friend, he would go beyond these token promises to reason with her.....but I think he's tried being her friend long enough to realize that she is not someone who can be reasoned with.....so he sticks to the token promises cuz she aage se gives these reactions like that has made her so happy and Adi ka kuch khaas nahin jaata to just give her token words....lol so they consider it a win-win I guess.

The way Adi treats her now is definitely not like a friend....as you said, he walks around her on eggshells like he's scared of her....toh phir toh wohi emotional abuser waali baat hi hui....he has been emotionally abused by Malini for a long time and these are the lingering after-effects of it that he tries to manage.....by giving her token dosti declarations to mollify her so that she is distracted enough to not demand other things he can't give her and then try to suicide over that again.

And baaki despite all this, he refuses to back down from his truth about Imlie....that is a hard line in the sand for him no matter what his lingering emotional abuse trauma from Malini may be.
