In retrospect, other than the repeating scenes, one more major problem of PS writers was also shown today- they are terrible at drama.
The whole short circuiting scene- so much build up previous episode with the bgm... and today it kind of fell flat. They could have shown the messy kitchen with the delays in cooking even without the flooding(which made no sense in the first place- the tap was right there- they should have heard the running water.)
Let us assume they did it for the TRP audience- they want a dramatic moment. Then go all the way Have an satisfying fight between the girls or have some emotional moment. Sometimes it is ok to serve people's baser needs of watching catfights 😆 I am guitly of that soometimes( I have subjected myself to the Grey's Anatomy for the same reason- somedays I just need drama)
They want to be feel good, but they want to attarct TRP audience, yet they don't do anything all the way.
Sometimes I feel the writers have no gumption
Oh absolutely! KHKT had this same issue. They could never do good drama later on. In an attempt to stay away from typical ITV drama, they gloss over important issues and create drama in the worst places. And they lose golden opportunities that come up to create interesting drama. They could have made this issue into something more dramatic and then use other tracks for light hearted scenes. All that build up was for nothing and whatever we guess never comes true. But why not? If you are going to attract trp audiences, why not do it right?
One of the girls getting hurt or scared could have given us a significant moment for that couple and even between the girls themselves. Maybe Dev saves both of them and Shiva sees this. I could rewrite this scene in 3-5 other ways and so can everyone else. And I’m sure all of our scenes would be better than what was given (and still cater to trp audiences).
ITV really struggles with creating solid drama.
