But for everything else, I agree. He has definitely thought about her as a wife or a partner, he had spend quite a bit of time with her where she took up all the duties of a partner in his journey in all ways except one. So, this would disturb him because I always thought he has understood she is the ideal partner for him, the image became more stronger post annulment.
Even if he never admited it out loud, he was waiting for her to return to him.
