Chapter 28 New Beginning

Mini was in Arya’s hospital room, thinking about the events of whole day, how she landed herself in trouble by accepting Mickey’s offer. It was one thing to say yes to Mickey’s job offer in the heat of the moment but it was another thing to actually work as their PR. First, she had no experience of managing PR of famous personality. Second, she hated that she had to face Neil after all these years and now she will be seeing him on a regular basis due to this job.Third, if all those gossips and rumors were true about Neil then she had to face his tantrums also and she wont be able to do anything about it as she will be his mere employee. And lastly, no matter how much she denies the fact that she is not affected by Neil’s presence, the truth was that she do care about it a lot. It does affect her, his presence, his attitude and more importantly the glimpses of their past which keeps coming, still made her heart go crazy. How is she going to deal with all this?

Mini stood up and took out her phone to say no to Mickey but then she looked at Arya. Mickey and even Dr. Jay had said that Arya will get best post surgery care in Newyork. And she doesn’t has any other reason to live here in Mumbai, she had no one left here. Mini was confused what to do when she remembered what her father Hanuman Singh used to say to her in her childhood.

“Beta, the best way to win over your fear is to actually face it not run away from it.”

That’s what she was doing in her life until now, running away from her fear, i.e., running away from Neil, his memories, their past. She had thought that things will get better in some time but she has not gotten anywhere even after running so much. Now, it’s the time to face her fears. She will see with her own eyes that how Neil has changed, how pathetic he has become as a person, how far he has moved on in his life and probably this will help her to move on too, to get a new life devoid of any past trauma. Mini decided that tomorrow she will discuss the terms and conditions of the new job offer and settlement of their loan with Mickey.

Neil was tossing and turning in his bed as he had no sleep in his eyes. How is this possible? Why Mini agreed for this job offer? No matter how macho people think him to be but inside he was just a big bowl of mush. No matter how many time she has screamed that he don’t care about Mini or he is not affected by her presence but the truth is he is still there, stuck in his past where she had left him, every smallest of thing related to her bothers him to such an extent that he loses his mind. How he is going to deal with this?

Besides this, there were questions in his mind regarding Dr. Jay and Mini’s relationship. What are they to each other? Are they married? Or still dating or engaged? Why Mini was in financial troubles inspite of being with Jay?

Neil knew now there is no way out of this situation. If he backs out then he will be called weak, who cant even handle the presence of his ex girl friend. So he decided to play along and resolved that he will make Mini’s life hell so that she would herself leave the job.

Next day Neil and Mickey went to see Arya in the hospital. After sometime Mickey suggested that she and Mini should discuss about their contract so they went to the hospital’s canteen and Neil stayed back with Arya.

“Hey kido! Your Dr. Jay has not come for visit today?” Neil asked from Arya.

“Stop calling me kido, I am all grown up now and why you care about Dr. Jay?” Arya raised her eyebrow in curiosity.

“Huh! Why would I care? I was just asking…you know…general knowledge. Your sister trust him so much, yesterday she was all emotional, almost throwing herself on him when he came out of the OT…so just asking. By the way, who is he to your sister, I mean…to you. I mean what is the actual relation?” Neil finally asked the question which was bugging him since last few days.

Arya tried to control her laughter somehow. She could easily see the green eyed monster in Neil. The jealousy was so evident that even a blind person could notice it. It made her happy, it was a proof of their love still residing in some corner of their hearts. It made her more confident about Mickey’s plan to offer job to Mini. “Well, Dr. Jay and my sister are not married but….” Arya teased him and left the sentence incomplete.

“But what?” Neil asked immediately.

“Actually, its not my place to say anything on this matter. Why don’t you ask it from my sis?” Arya tried not to laugh on Neil’s impatience.

“Fine! Don’t tell me anything. I am not interested anyway.” Neil lied.

Neil looked at his watch, Mickey was taking lot of time. He thought of calling him and came out of Arya’s room. Neil noticed that on that same floor there was Dr.Jay’s cabin. He contemplated on confronting him directly for a while but then decided against it. He was about to go from there when he got a flash of yesterday’s scene when Mini had hugged Jay tightly. Anger rose in him and he marched straight towards his cabin.

Neil pushed opened the door without even knocking and was shocked as he saw there was another woman in Jay's arms.

“Must say, tumhari to aish hai. Girls keep throwing themselves at you every now and then.” Neil taunted.

“What?Ye kya bakwass kar rahe ho aur tumhari himmat kaise hui mere pati ke bare mein ye sab bolne ki….wait a minute…tum to wo famous singer....Neil..right?” Pooja, Jay’s wife asked.

“What? He is your husband? I thought he was with Mini Singh.” Neil replied.

“What the hell! You are a celeb that doesn’t give you right to point finger on my husband and as far as that Mini Singh is concerned, yes she is one b***h who always tries to snatch my husband from me.” Pooja replied in attitude.

Neil closed his hand in a fist in anger. No matter what he thinks or keep saying about Mini but when that woman used that derogatory word for Mini, it stung somewhere in his heart.

“Pooja, mind your language. Don’t say anything about Mini. I have told you several times that I just want to help her, nothing else.” Dr. Jay scolded Pooja.

“Werent Mini and you engaged?” Neil asked another question.

Jay wanted to say no and clear out the misunderstanding but he didn’t know exactly what to say and if he was even allowed to say it in Mini’s absence, she will be upset with him. So he remained quiet but his wife replied in his place. “My Jay has only loved me in his life, he is my husband, he is not related to that Mini by any means but yes, that Mini likes to cling to him, to take sympathy and monetary favours and use him for his money and reputation. My husband is so naïve to see through the beautiful face of that girl. He even wanted to give her 20 lakhs for her sister’s operation but I forbid him from doing so.”

Neil left Jay’s cabin after listening all that. Even though he still didn’t get the whole idea but he now knew that Mini and Jay are not married. Jay married someone else. May be Jay broke his engagement with MIni and got married to this woman Pooja but Mini still keeps seeing Jay and most probably uses him for her advantage like that woman was saying but he didn’t have courage to give 20 lakhs to Mini after his wife’s warning. This whole thing made the gold digger image of Mini in Neil’s mind more strong and he was clear now that all these years hasn’t change her even a little bit. Now he decided to stop finding escape route and face the reality of his life, he fell for a wrong girl and she screwed him up.

After some days when Arya was given green signal to travel and Hurricane had finished their remaining tour, finally all of them left for Newyork. As they landed on the airport their personal security took them from VIP clearance.

“Why so many men Eddie?” Mickey asked from the security incharge.

“There is a lot of media outside and also the crowd.” Eddie answered.

“Why is that?” Mini asked as she couldnt stop herself. Ever since she had landed here she was surrounded by so many people. Security, airport authority people helping in clearance. She was not used to such treatment. She was getting nervous because of it.

“Oh Eddie, meet Mini Singh, she will be handling our PR from now on and Mini, this is Eddie, you have to coordinate with him on all the security issues.” Mickey made the introduction.

“Ma’am actually the band is coming back here after so many days. There trip was supposed to be the a short one but it got extended for unknown reasons and there was media gossip all over that Neil sir paid visit to some hospital and also the song he played in the charity event has gone viral on social media. So fans are here just for welcoming them after successful world tour and media wants to ask the questions regarding the event and hospital visit, paparazzi is there is just click pics.” Eddie explained and Mini could only nod.

As they came out of the airport the crowd cheered for their favourite and media tried to block their way. Mini was stupefied seeing all this. She was always a private person and now she was facing such situation for the first time. She had always thought that celebs are so lucky to have the attention of so many people but for the first time she realized that its not such a great thing always.

“Thank God Arya was taken on the wheel chair from different route by helpers.” Mini thanked God as at least Arya was saved from this circus.

Mini was lost and confused with all this when security team took the charge and encircled band members leading them to the exit gate. Before Mini could even understand what is happening around throng of people came and tried to reach the band members. She was left behind with her luggage. Someone also pushed her to the side and she barely managed to steady herself. The security made sure the band members were seated in the cars securely.

When they were just about to leave Neil noticed Mini is not with them.

“Where is she?” Neil asked from Mickey.

“Who?”Mickey asked in confusion.

“The new PR you hired idiot, that Mini, where is she?” Neil said getting irritated.

“Oh! I think she is left behind.” Mickey realized.

“F**k! She doesn’t even know anyone here. I told you she is one troublemaker.” Neil said and came out of the car to go inside the airport once again to fetch her.Yes he hated her and all but in this moment he was suddenly worried for her. All he could think was she was left behind alone and she looked pretty dazed too with all this circus.

“Sir, not you please, I’ll go….” Eddie tried to stop him, horrified at the idea of him going alone, but he had already left.

As Neil again came inside airport, he was mobbed by the crowd. Some tried to stop him in the way, some tried to touch him, some even pulled his jacket. With difficulty he finally managed to locate Mini at one corner.

“What are you doing here? You should have moved your legs fast with the security.”Neil scolded and Mini could not even manage to respond, she was still in the state of confusion.

Neil sighed and shook his head dejectedly; he pushed her luggage basket and encircled one of his arms around her waist protectively.Till then Eddie had reached with his men and he lead them again to the exit.The shutterbugs captured the whole incident in their cameras and the gossip started almost instantly regarding the ‘new girl’ with rockstar Neil whom he escorted himself out of the airport.
