The black dress scene was the start of the next phase of their lives but a lot of things were still unsaid between them in terms of their feelings and expectations from one another.

I don't think he expected her to react this way to the prank.

She usually has no filter when she expresses her emotions to him, so even today he could see her raw anger and hurt when she was scolding him. I think this was very much needed, especially for him to no longer have any doubts about how important he is in her life and how much she wants to be a part of his. For Pallavi, it was her voicing what she's been feeling for many many months.
